The research of an artifact, may it be a coin or other items, is an interdisciplinary procedure. It means that the experts with different knowledge and experience deal with the same object/artifact. Their abilities and scientific interests may be different, but they are complementary.
The archaeological metal is a complex material structure: that is metal and corrosion compounds in the same time. The degree of mineralization is decisive for a graduated investigation. Knowing the consequences of the corrosion process, the influences of the environmental parameters, new methods for conservation are essential for a long lasting intervention (conservation-restoration-preservation).
The paper aims to present results coming from the conservator-restorer may be useful too. Some times, even the history of the conservation stages of an artifact it's good to be taken into consideration.
In order to argue this statement, I present how the conservation of same corroded coins, coming from the Fortress of Oradea, was managed.
Jointing researchers, scientists, conservators, numismatists, archaeologists, all kind of experts interested in same material structures or category of artifacts, made it possible to establish a common language, a global understanding of the phenomenon.
